I’ve been looking through my folder of unsorted music – 4.31GB of unnamed or half named music files. So not only am I testing my knowledge of what music I have bought over the years and put on my machine but I am also travelling back years into my ever evolving musical taste. Some of it does loosely point to current listening: Josef K points to Editors. Some other things have made it onto the MP3 player – Canadian Goodbye / Just Orange, Playgirl / Ladytron, Providence / Bill Laswell, Pull A You / The Kills, The Room / Harold Budd, Killer Bees / The Stills and some things I just don’t know what I was thinking - Philmore / Garlic

Random Blog #1...
A failure to be creative today so someone else can provide the thunder. I'm putting '#1' because I feel I may in the future fail to deliver a post that will dazzle and entertain...

Rough...
I’m in two minds, not shaving in the morning allows that extra ten minutes in the bed; not shaving for a day means you’ve the sexy rough stubble element; not shaving for a week means you’ve a tatty looking beard. So after the week the option is to either go through the scraping it off and going through it all again or straighten the edges and look a few years older.

Counselling…
I will help in any situation I can, I’ll cook, I’ll listen to directionless rants, I’ll hug, I’ll buy the first round, I’ll walk for miles as steam is let off – but I won’t say you’re right if I think you’re wrong.

Saeglopur what a wonderful piece of music, suddenly I have seen why it means so much to me.

Subtle Enough...
Time is like a broken watch
I make money like Fred Astaire
I see that you've come to resist me
I'm a pitbull in time
The pretence is not what restricts me
It's the circles inside
The anatomy of kisses and a teacher who tries
Who knows how we'll disappear
Would you like to be my missus
And in future with child?
You know that we can't get back from here
But we can get away
Baby don't you try to find me
Baby don't you try to fight
Baby don't you try to find me
Baby, it will be all right
Along the way
Tears drown in the wake of delight
There's nothing like this built today
You'll never see a finer ship in your life
We sail today
Tears drown in the wake of delight
There's nothing like this built today
You'll never see a finer ship
Or receive a better tip in your life
I am the scavenger
Between the sheets of union
Lately I can't tell for sure
Whether machines turn anyone
I am the scavenger
Between the sheets of union
Lately I can't tell for sure
If the machines turn anyone
Lady don't you try to find me
Lady there is no need to fight
Lady don't you try to find me
Baby it will be all right
We sail today
Tears will drown in the wake of delight
There's nothing like this built today
You'll never see a finer ship in your life
Along the way
The sea will crowd us with lovers at night
There's nothing like this built today
You'll never see a finer ship
Or receive a better tip in your life
I see that you've come to resist me
I'm a pitbull in time
White Goddess, Red Goddess, Black temptress of the sea
You treat me right
Black Goddess, Red Goddess, White temptress of the sea
You treat me right
Oh my love we are sailing to Norway
Oh my love we're leaving tonight
I make money like Fred Astaire

Being The Good Guy...
What is it about being a good guy that simultaneously makes you so attractive and so unattractive? And being the bad guy is just generally accepted because that’s just how ‘men’ are…

Music And Mood...
Amongst the irritation and confusion, possibly the irritation of being confused the listening has been: Godspeed You Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Album Leaf, Múm, Sigur Rós and Ulrich Schnauss.
Or sounds to that effect; sums up the mood?

New And Old...
Tradition and modernism should run in parallel, holding values does not mean we cannot be open minded and multi-cultural.

Romance...
I was drafting something to fit this topic for a while and I knew I was getting away from the point. Romance, there is something deeply satisfying about a pulling off a romantic gesture.
But seeing the reaction, knowing I've made someone happy and being aware I've made someone feel special because I put a little thought into doing something for someone who means that much to me. Seeing that sparkle in someones eyes because I went to a little more trouble planning an evening out. I don't see it as a chore for the right person, it's not difficult to take a moment to plan the route to the resteraunt or pondering and pencilling the birthday card message before getting it right for the card. Choosing how to word sentences and subtly playing music that means something in the background. Observing haircuts and new necklaces.
There is more to question in the perception of romance and in being romantic. I wouldn't call myself a romantic. What is wanted? What can be delivered?

Death...
Why can't we deal with death? We understand that dying is the one thing we're going to get in life but when someone dies we are overcome with emotion and we don't understand why this happened as if the people we care about should be able to avoid it. Is it more the mental dawning that someone who adds something to our lives won't anymore or is it that we realise that one day we're going to close our eyes and our hearts are going to function no more? Is it that someone who we've supported doesn't need us anymore? Is it that death is the one unknown, we don't want that someone to face the unknown alone? Then we return to this fear of loneliness and the unknown - is the seeming difficulty to accept death really the failure of the human mind or is it the natural fear of loneliness and of the unknown that all humans share?
I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud...

Pills...
I hope my smile can distract you
I hope my fists can fight for two
So it never has to show
And you'll never know
I hope my love can blind you
I hope my arms can bind you
So you'll never have to see
What we've grown to be
They only think we're alright
But we need pills to sleep at night
We need lies to make it through the day
We're not ok
They only think we're alright
But we need pills to sleep at night
We need lights to make it through
We're not ok
They only think we're different
But if I had to make up my mind
Then I'd loose more with each passing day
We're not ok
That's what they would never
It's one thing I would never
It's one thing I would never
Say to you
I hope my fists can fight for two
So it never has to show
And you'll never know
I hope my love can blind you
I hope my arms can bind you
So you'll never have to see
What we've grown to be

Still On The Hunt For Something Perfect...
You're answering questions
That have not yet been asked
All sparks
Will burn out
In the end
You burn like a bouncing cigarette
On the road
All sparks will burn out in the end
All sparks will burn out
All sparks will burn out
All sparks will burn out
In the end
You're casting opinions
At people who need them
All sparks
Will burn out
In the end
Well, be careful angel
This life is just too long
All sparks
Will burn out
In the end
All sparks will burn out
All sparks will burn out
All sparks will burn out
In the end
You burn like a
Bouncing
Cigarette

The Beautiful Game...
In the belief that Manchester United might get that little bit closer to Chelsea this season I'll not comment on how over-rated they remain.
Stone Roses...
Nostalgia, but the 'Roses' were absolutely fantastic. John Squire is up there with the finest of our generation and Ian Brown was the front man to carry the then new breed of 'Manc' musicians.

See The Sun...
Try to press, what you might be feeling
Why suppress
What you might be needing
You missed the moon on Monday morning
You were lying in your sin
You missed the moon on Monday morning
Because you don’t mean anything to anyone anymore
Why confess
Well you wouldn’t need to
Because on your desk
There’s more to be seen to
By the time just keep on ticking
Until I get my sweet release
By the time just keep on winding
Until this cold-stop has ceased
And everyone can see the sun
I’ve send underwater
Slept with your daughter
She told me what your rule book read
I’ve been to the slaughter
Slept with your daughter
So won`t you let me have my head
And then I can see the sun
You missed the moon on Monday morning
You were lying in your sin.
You missed the moon on Monday morning
Because you don’t mean anything to anyone anymore
By the time just keep on ticking
Until I get my sweet release
And down this road I’ll keep on winding
Until this cold-stop has ceased
And everyone can see the sun
Everyone can see the sun
Everyone can see the sun
Everyone can see the sun

Why Look At Me Like That...
Yes I said Icelandic Progressive Rock!
Sigur Ros - Takk...
Fantastic listening - unless over the phone when it sounds a little unflattering and high pitched. However - not often would we find ourselves listening to music via telephone.
Live they can play, they can sing and this album for all it's bells and whistles doesn't step away from the direction they were heading in 5 years ago.

All Things Must Progress Or Die...
Music especially must make those evolutionary steps or it will be left behind.
This is what happened when The Cardigans grow old, wither and die - out from the beauty of evolution come a handful of Swedish bands that take the principal of Swedish music and slap it together with the digital and provoking elements of 2005...

Someone Says...
Someone said they saw you,
In the night and on your own.
There's beauty in the lonely,
You're the moonlight in this town.
Seems like every moment,
Is another from before.
Your eyes have have nothing behind them.
Your arms and legs are sore.
Neighbour-, you've fallen in with the wrong crowd.
I've got so much to tell you- in too little time.
Neighbour-, why keep things close to your heart?
If no-one can help you-, then how can I?
Someone said they saw you,
Said they saw it as a sign.
Well every single second,
Catches up the next in line.
Neighbour-, you've fallen in with the wrong crowd.

Back Stabbing...
What is it about going on holiday that means you're automatically going to end up in the middle of the floor with bruises round your ribs and nasty wounds expelling red red blood from your back?
Eight days out of the office, I don't know how I survived. I don't know how they survived. I don't know why I haven't been given the sack. Everything that went wrong was reported as something I was working on or something I was responsible. Surely with such a spinal role I deserve a pay rise. Or at least credit for correcting everything on my first day.
Weekly meetings - bring the points to the table. Although I did not mention the 'agonising pain' I was in. I did question how the less competent of my colleagues could pass their failing work, due to their inadequacy ability to me when I was absent then claim to have completed the work after I had spent my first day back sorting it. As expected; red faced silence was displayed in front of the manager.
Do we really have friends at work?

I'm just too tired in life.

people can relate and take refuge in knowing there are others and they are not alone

Filling Time...
Saturday was filled with mainly the following:
Which indeed turned out to be one of the greatest purchases under a £1 I have ever made.
And pressing my very own image onto the surrounding countryside - metaphorically speaking.
Kinda for got the plus of clean air, long grass, refreshing cold drinks and the right company.
