I wanted to raise above my class or caste. I wanted to raise above my culture and breeding. I wanted to transcend the limitation that the rest of my family and society were trapped by. I wanted to transcend my identification with my culture and its perceptions. I was a product of my family, breeding and culture so I wanted to transcend myself.
