A Nothing Thought Some Should Know...

"Just as our spirits and personalities must be nurtured, so at the same time, it's not to be done at the expense of crushing other people." - Garth Hewitt

The Problem With Diversity Is Ignorance...

'What is the point in providing music for us that we can't understand!'

Not my words - but at work it's 'Diversity Week' and musicians/artists from Africa are exhibiting their varying styles. Today was a Nigerian, who I thought was pretty good, mellow - was guilty of tapping my feet and nodding (, just a little). Anyway I heard the above and I couldn't believe it. One because my work would be expected to be populated of educated sensible people. And two there are posters around the building stating it's 'Diversity Week' - so even the less mentally capable could have read this. Apparently no. Diversity being diverse would usually mean its something unfamiliar, a bit of exposure to something different. It shouldn't be something you know/understand - it's looking to break that boundary?

I thought so anyway.

One Of Lifes Mysteries...

Two bins, one for recycling paper. People throwing out a pile stuff ignore the recycling bin - when they have a heap of paper and have made the trip anyway. I mean it'd be understandable if the recycling bin was at the far end of the corridor. But when it sits next to the 'general waste' bin?

PC...

I do not discriminate - sex, creed or colour. Primarily cause I couldn't care about any of those things. You're just a person I walk past in the street. What you do to your girlfriend in the bedroom, if you visit a mosque or if you have a better tan than me. So?

For generalisation sake - Being black isn't good, it isn't bad it just is. Being a jew isn't good, it isn't bad it just is. Being female isn't good, it isn't bad it just is. Just like the sky is blue and grass is green. Accept it.

I don't need to say how great it is I've a chinese mate to not be racist. Or how I cook to not be sexist. Aren't people going too far? Press creates divisions by pointing things out, ethnic people are given help beyond call which makes the less fortunate of the majority resentful. The bigger picture is this constant highlighting isn't helping...
